The race took place in Bondurant. The first wave took off into the lake at 10am, with waves following at 10:03, 10:06, and the final wave (which I was in) began at 10:09. It was quite chilly this morning, but the rain held off. The lake was actually warm enough and the sun stayed behind the clouds. Unfortunately the wind killed me on the bike course. There were times I was head-on and going a whopping 9 mph. Overall though, not much to complain about except for the fact I didn't realize how competitive this race would be. I was not the last to finish at the tri last year so I was surprised to be the last this time... by a lot. If I compete in this one next year, I'll have to step my game up and train for more than two months.
P.S. A huge thanks to my wonderful husband for supporting me and coming to the race even though he couldn't see any of the biking leg or much of the run. He also gets the credit for the great photos of me in action. Thanks babe!
