The Back Story
I feel like I need to say a little something about why I began My First Time back in March 2011. On a cold, stormy night, (well, not exactly) I admitted to myself I was stuck. Each day blurred into the next. I couldn't keep Monday from Wednesday straight because they were the same: go teach gymnastics, make lunch, go be a TV journalist, come home, sleep. Exciting life for a then 24-year-old, I know. It's amazing how routine life can become without even knowing it. So I decided to take my life back and make each day count, each day memorable. With the help of a glass (or bottle) of wine, My First Time was born. The challenge was to do something new each day. Since my great revelation, I've checked more than 400 things off my To Do List.
When I tell people about this ambition, they always wonder what exactly I do need each day. I tell them a couple different examples but can't possibly list all of them aloud. That's why I created this blog. So for anyone wondering what I do to make each day count, they can see what I'm up to.
The journey of doing something new every day lasted 15 months. That's pretty darn impressive if you ask me. At that point, I had well gotten out of my rut. I had fallen in love, started training for a couple races, and was making each day count without necessarily doing something for the first time. I continue to do new things three to five days a week and share those experiences in my blog.
About Me
My name is Jessica (Daley) Wardenburg. I'm a midwest gal who's lived in several places throughout the lovely states of Iowa, Illinois, and Missouri. I'm a public relations associate at a Des Moines-based marketing firm and gymnastics/cheerleading instructor. I love dancing, travelling, eating, and learning. I love sarcasm and a stimulating conversation. I'm a self-proclaimed painter and photographer. I can't sing worth a darn. I hope to make some kind of difference in the world.
