I've never liked one-piece bathing suits. I remember as a kid, I'm talking four years old in swimming class, my suit was only connected on the sides with an open tummy and back. I've just never liked how they felt. But as I get more serious about my training for the Tough Mudder as well as a mini indoor triathlon, I need to "look" serious. After swimming laps Wednesday in my normal bikini, I decided I needed a "real" swimsuit and went out to purchase my first one-piece suit. I had great help from Kelly at Scheels in helping me pick out a suit with the proper fit, a head cap, and googles that work well for me. I was surprised at first that swim suits run up to $70, but then I thought how bikins run that much too and have half the material. Luckily, I scored this reversible TYR on sale for less than half that. I got some sweet Speedo googles and head cap. Can't wait to bust those out at the pool and fool everyone into thinking I'm a serious swimmer (well, until they see me actually swim).
Later that day, which was the last of my six-day vacation from work, I headed out to Jethro's Jambalaya in Waukee for a few drinks. Man, was it packed! That's because it was Mug Night. Since I usually work Wednesday evenings, I'd never even heard of Mug Night, which all Jethro's locations do. I got me a mug and blended in with the rest of the folks. The staff tried kicking everyone out around 10:30 for closing, but we ended up staying to midnight. It was a fun night of very interesting, stimulating conversation with new and old friends. I think I know where I'll be spending my next Wednesday night off...
