My company is so great that we set up a blood drive with the LifeServe Blood Center bloodmobile. I believe there were around 15 people who donated. Out of 100 employees, that's not a terrible turn out. When I was in college at Mizzou, I gave blood a couple of times, but this is my first time donating with LifeServe in Des Moines. A blood drive is a huge part of the university's Homecoming tradition. Here in Des Moines as part of the Mizzou Alumni Association chapter in central Iowa we also asked members to donate blood as a way to participate in the Homecoming tradition without being in Columbia. So it was perfect timing that my company had the bloodmobile stop by during the week of Homecoming (which is why I'm sporting the black and gold scarf).
If you like helping people but don't have the financial means, think about giving blood. You don't need all your blood so why not share the wealth?
