While I’ve been feeling Spud kick for six weeks, Lucas was finally able to feel Spud kick for the first time this week. His movement hasn’t been strong enough even for me to feel from the outside… until now. Just last night, laying on my back you could see my belly flutter from him squirming around. I’m not crazy because my mom witnessed it too. That was pretty cool. I’m in no rush to have Spud so big he’s kicking my ribs, but I’m excited to feel and see that he’s growing and getting stronger.
Daycare
We had our first in-person interview with an in-home daycare provider. We found her on the Iowa Child Care Resource and Referral website. It provides a list of all daycare providers in the state. We searched for providers who live near us, and she popped up. Just a few blocks away, she’s in a super convenient location. However; I was not impressed by the interview. She had some great attributes, but the not-so-great ones left my gut saying no. I left voicemails for three other providers – none of which called me back. I don’t understand, as a business owner, why you wouldn't call a prospective customer back? Maybe they are full…? The search continues!
Nursery
I’ve really fleshed out the design for the nursery! We’re going with an adventure theme – the outdoors, sky, hot air balloons, airplane, etc. The colors are navy, aqua, orange, yellow and gray. If you’d like to see my vision, check out my Pinterest board!
I’ve recently had conversations with several different parents/grandparents about delivery gone wrong. I know problems can come up. In fact, I think it’s more unlikely to have a completely easy delivery than one without some sort of difficulty or complication. This got me thinking. There are five doctors in my clinic. One is my normal OB/GYN, and I’ve met one other. They want you to meet all five before the “big day,’ which I think is a good idea. When I get the chance, I think I need to be asking them questions about their attitudes toward delivery. When do you do a C-section? Do you ever use the vacuum/suction thing to get the baby out? I don’t want to freak myself out, but I want to feel prepared. If I need pain meds, I may not be in the best state of mind to be making important decisions. I need to start doing some homework on this topic.
Baby Bump
Seeing is believing, in this case, too. I had several co-workers inform me this past week that this is the first time I actually looked pregnant. As someone who thought they’d be noticeably showing by four months, I’ve been anxious to openly rocking the baby bump. I think it’s pretty obvious (and cool) these days that I’m growing a human.
