Since I can remember, my mom always made a big deal of having a golden birthday. Looking back, I don't know why considering none of us had a golden birthday while living together. My older sister was two, my younger brother was 22 and, last but not least, mine was just this year. I'm not sure how I would have celebrated it as a kid, but I found it fitting to welcome my late-20s by celebrating with margaritas made with Jose Gold.
Last year, I recall feeling old. I had just gotten married, moved in Lucas and started a new career. This year, I didn't feel older... until the kid behind the register at Dahl's said he didn't have to ID because I "look older than 21." How rude! He clearly doesn't have much luck with the ladies.
All in all, it was a great birthday. I had a great day at work, went out to lunch with a co-worker, won our volleyball games and had friends over to drink margaritas with me. Oh yeah, and I got a nephew! My sister gave birth to a healthy baby boy in Chicago. Talk about a great birthday present!
