All in all, it took us about 14 hours to get from our condo in Urbandale to our resort suite in the Riviera Maya. We made the five-hour drive to Chicago Friday night and stayed with my parents. Early, early Saturday we were on our way to O’Hare airport. The two-hour flight to Charlotte, N.C was followed by a quick 40-minute layover. It took another 2.5 hours to land in Cancun, and in less than 15 minutes we were through customs, picked up our luggage and walking to our pre-arranged private shuttle to the El Dorado Royale.
This was my first time in Mexico.
Walking into El Dorado Royale took our breath away. The pictures online made it look spectacular; the real thing did not disappoint. A bell hop grabbed our luggage and loaded in onto a golf cart while we were escorted inside for a glass of champagne and to check-in. Our suite with a king bed and Jacuzzi tub was on the second floor with a balcony over looking the grounds. We took a few minutes to situate ourselves, unpack a few pieces of clothing and then headed out to explore our beautiful beach-side home for the week. I won’t bore you with a list of adjectives that constantly reiterate the amazingness of this place. The photos speak for themselves.
Bienvenidos a Mexico!
