I headed down to good ole Pella today for lunch. No, I wasn't hitting up every pastry shop on the square, I was talking to high school students interesting in a career in media or journalism of sorts. I was there representing broadcast, while Adam Wilson was there from the print journalism world and Cindy Hughes Anliker from public relations. We all are considered social media gurus, of course. We talked about how histories and how we ended up where we are now. The dozen students (all girls) had some good questions: What skills to develop now? Should I get an internship? It was fun talking to them and meeting the other two speakers. After 45 minutes, I think the students were stuffed of information and probably a little bored. We work in a tough industry; I hope we didn't scare them too much!
