This morning was the first time I've ever worked out with a personal trainer. As a perk to signing up with Fitness World West, they gave me a free session with one of their trainers. I told Mike I'm training for the Tough Mudder as well as an indoor mini-tri. Impressed with my lofty goals, he knew we had some work to do, specifically with increasing my endurance. He had me do farmer walks where I carried 25 lbs in each hand while walking around the track. Feel the burn girl! My shoulders, forearms, and hands sure did. Then we did walk/jog/sprints. He tried racing me, but seeing he was a collegiate athlete, I think it was obvious who was going to win. Then I did squats with 15 lbs in each hand on a stabilizer thing. You should have seen my legs shake each time I went down! We ended with me on the big ball, holding a bar over my head, leaning back and to the sides to work my core. As motivation throughout the workout, Mike called me a beast. I'm not yet, but one day soon I will be. For now, I'll go with baby beast.
