Not everyone would recommend reading the Bible cover to cover. Now that I've done it, I would say you should do it. I feel like it was overdue for me personally. I now feel like I have a better foundation of Christianity, God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit.
I'm not going to pretend like I understood all of it or that it was all very exciting. Most of it was tedious. A lot of it was about God's wrath and jealousy and people's refusal to follow him. A little of it was about Jesus while he was living. I thought stories of his life would take up a lot more of the New Testament. In reality, that was really just the first four books, The Gospel. The rest was about Paul and other apostles spreading his teachings and converting people. Those misconceptions are exactly why I'm glad I read it. I guess it's the journalist in me, but I like knowing for myself what something says and not just rely on someone else to tell me or interpret it for me. And not that I was out to achieve this, but I do feel like a better Christian. I've made God more of a priority in the last 100 days, and I hope to continue doing that.
