5. That's the number of hours it takes to get from my condo to my parents' house in the Chicago suburbs. Usually Lucas and I plow down I-80 only stopping for construction workers. One the way back though, we really had no reason to rush. We were both starving half way through the trip which is conveniently as we cross the Mississippi River. We stopped to get some gas at our usual place, but then ducked across the road into Bierstube. I thought it was a Firestone auto shop based on the font and color of its sign. However, Bierstube turned out to be a vintage/German restaurant with a perfect view of the Mississippi River. Lucas ordered the Jagerschnitzel and I was a bit boring going with the French dip. Lucas really enjoyed his while mine was pretty disappointing. There were several delicious-looking appetizers on the menu. We've already decided next time instead of getting an entree, we will each order an app or too.
